The Portable Computer and Communications Association (PCCA) will be hosting a Data Offload workshop on Tuesday, June 26th, in Seattle, WA.
The Workshop is Hosted by NetMotion Wireless.
Data offload from cellular to Wi-Fi network is playing an increasingly important role in addressing escalating data demand as mobile broadband becomes ever more popular. So far, Wi-Fi offload has been handled in a fairly simplistic fashion. Technical developments, however, will offer far more seamless options that provide both a better user experience, and greater options for operators to manage both capacity and their services.
This workshop will examine the opportunities, issues, and evolving architectures. Items under consideration for this meeting include:
Different architectures for integrating Wi-Fi.
The role of Wi-Fi in future HetNets architectures.
IEEE 802.11u.
Hotspot 2.0.
Evolution of 3GPP standards to support offload.
Client-side connection management.
3GPP IP Flow Mobility and Seamless Offload (IFOM).
